JAMCRACKERS: Announcing a New CD, and a New Name for the trio of Dan Duggan, Peggy Lynn and Dan Berggren (aka Peg & the Dans and other names too numerous to mention), but the same high energy, rich harmony, good humor and spirit.
Why Jamcrackers? It's a tribute to the river drivers who broke up log jams, who worked hard to get things rolling again. And it was a job that couldn't be done alone. Well, we feel the same way about our music.
To put ourselves in the best possible atmosphere to make this album, we started recording last fall at a chapel in the Adirondacks called St. Williams on Long Point. We've performed many times in this great acoustic space which William West Durant had built for his workers. Then we moved to another wonderful place that Durant designed, the historic Great Camp Sagamore, and continued our recording sessions in the building called the Play House, home to many concerts, workshops and dances. This past winter we went to Dan Duggan's studio to wrap things up; and in spring my daughter Jenny Berggren, our only guest musician, added flute to my ballad about the Native American Adirondack guide Sabael.
There are sixteen songs on JAMCRACKERS: traditional, original, a few by friends, a couple of tunes, some a cappella, blues, gospel, humorous, and some very moving songs of spirit and of hope. You can order JAMCRACKERS right now by going to the Albums page on this website. And do come out to hear us if you can at one of our CD release concerts this summer. As always, check the Concert Events page for dates and times. Hope to see you at a concert soon. And don't forget the bug dope!
