The new CD FRESH TERRITORY has arrived! This is an invitation to take a musical journey --one that's rooted in tradition and explores some stories of hard work, survival and striving for a better world. The songs are protests in the streets, ghosts in the woods, feeling at home wherever you are, finding truth in the wilderness, wisdom from our elders, and salvation in the "power from above" (renewable energy is homeland security, a friend tells me).

Whether it's the extra syllable that gets trimmed from a lyric or the additional instrument that just makes an arrangement, an album is a combination of countless decisions, large and small. Helping me make those decisions and realize my audio vision are many talented, dear friends. My heartfelt thanks go to Nancy Berggren, Jenny Berggren, Jim Briggs, Jan Conradi, Dan Duggan, Andy Flynn, Dave Fridmann, Carmen Gilman, Dick Gilman, Carl Heilman II, David Kiputh, John Kirk, Ed Lowman, Peggy Lynn, Trish Miller, Linda Schrade, Cathy Supple, Chris Turano, Linda Warner and Stephen Warner.

FRESH TERRITORY is listed at the bottom of the Album page. I invite you to spend an hour with my friends and me and let 18 songs trigger your imagination, get you to sing along, or better yet, learn the songs you like and sing them yourself.

. . .tension between sense and spirit
translates into a map:
distance measured by metaphor,
topography through tempo and rhyme,
direction in emotion and degrees of good.
It won't help us find this spot again
but could uncover new treasures
below the surface.

These maps are songs
and the fresh territory
charted by this music
is the landscape of the soul.
