So far this summer there have been many great concerts and festivals all over the north country, with many more in the upcoming weeks. There's even one you can attend via the internet . . .
CAFFE LENA LIVE ONLINE - I love it when technology can support folk music instead of getting in the way. Dan Duggan, Peggy Lynn and I return to Caffe Lena on August 9th. But if you don't live near Saratoga Springs and can't make it to the Jamcrackers concert, you can watch it live via webcast at Concert Window. Of course, if you're in the area, we'd love to see your faces and hear your voices. You can order Caffe Lena tickets here.
SONGS TO KEEP - TAUNY (Traditional Arts in Upstate New York) is to be commended and celebrated. They're bringing folk songs of the Marjorie Lansing Porter collection out of the archives and into concert halls, recording studios and onto the television screen. Dozens of musicians have been singing the songs for a CD project as well as a public TV special and concert series. Two of the concerts are listed below* and here's a clip of one of the songs. Also you can visit TAUNY's site to learn more about the project, the series of six concerts, and who's performing where.
